Artists Profile

I have always been interested in various areas of art and crafts, and tried my hand at quite a few. From an early age my
parents encouraged me to draw and paint, perhaps originally to keep me quiet and amused, but it gave me a very good start
and for that I am grateful. I spent a lot of my life wanting to combine my hobbies with my working life, to me that was a
dream of happiness. Whilst working in an arts and crafts shop a friend of mine suggested I joined her on a days painting
workshop. I jumped at the opportunity. It was then I discovered my favourite medium, oils. I haven’t looked back since.
I attended every workshop, after that I was hooked. I later trained as an instructor and am now teaching landscape, floral
and wildlife painting. My dream of happiness really came when I met Adrian who at the time was living in Switzerland working
as an artist and instructor. He was visiting the UK on an instructor’s seminar. He asked me to join him in Switzerland
and work with him over there.
It was great I couldn’t speak the language but as long as I had the paint brush in my hand and Adrian interpreting I
hit it off. The Swiss people and I got on just fine and I have made some wonderful and interesting friends.
I am now back in the UK with lots more experience and new ideas to get people painting, so I am looking forwards to meet you
all.

Adrian Turner

I started to paint at the age of 16, inspired by one of my most favourite artist and late father Emilio.
Always striving to improve my pictures I tried out different mediums such as pencil, charcoal, watercolours, soft pastels,
acrylics and oils.
After Art school in St.Gallen (Switzerland) and several years of drawing and painting I finally found my favourite medium
oils.
Living in Switzerland for nearly 20 years I am very happy to be back in the UK painting English landscapes.
Adrian
I found a poem in the Magazine This England, anyone who has been abroad for as long as I have I'm sure feels the same.
"My England" by Ruth Brown
Though I have seen the
wonders of places
overseas.
The mountain slopes
of Switzerland,
the lakes of Italy,
The beauty that is
Venice,
The splendour that
is Rome,
Yet always a small
island -
my England
- calls me home.
